Stretcher and Chair Training 2010

October 5 , 2010: The majority of Tuesday night's training consisted of members learning the proper procedures for using the new PowerFlex Stretcher and Stair Chair by Ambulance Lieutenants Ed Lubash and Rich Whitelavich. The new stretcher is a heavy-duty stretcher capable of handling up to 750 pounds and includes new safety features. Some features include an extra handle on each side for better stability and a locking mechanism which will not let the bed fall unless pressure is taken off the wheels. The new stair chair is easily opened and has tracks on back to glide down steps without the bump from the wheels hitting the step, extra long handles that come up out of the back of the chair and another set that extend out under the wheels. The stretcher and stair chair will be put in service on the new ambulance when all members have completed the in-house training on all new equipment.
