PPE SCBA Training 2009

On Tuesday, members instructed new recruits on proper procedures for donning and doffing PPE and SCBA. The recruits were given tips for their upcoming Firefighter I class starting in the fall. Some tips covered were proper donning of PPE, making sure all zippers and velcro closures were closed so as not to leave any skin exposed. Proper donning of SCBA,checking for proper face seal and making sure the nomex hood is placed over the face-piece not leaving any skin around the face exposed. Other recruits were instructed on vehicle stabilization and patient packaging. Recruits were shown proper cribbing placement so as not to obstruct patient removal. Recruits were also instructed on utilizing different size cribbing boxes, step chocks and high lift jacks in order to stabilize vehicles on uneven surfaces.
