ACTIVITY REPORT FOR 2010

Recent Calls and Activities for Greenfield Township Volunteer Firefighters, EMS, GTVFC Members, and Residents


December 12 - 31, 2010
  • December 13 just before noon, the ambulance was dispatched to Arnold Road for a medical emergency. The patient was transported to a local facility for treatment. All units cleared within one hour and 15 minutes.
  • Shortly after clearing the previous call, the ambulance was dispatched this time to Route 247 for a basic life support type call. A patient was transported to a local facility for treatment. All units cleared within one hour.
  • December 15 at 9:45am: the ambulance was dispatched to assist Clifford EMS with a medical alert alarm on SR 2023 in Clifford Twp. The 24-9 crew arrived and found everything to be ok with the patient accidentally tripping the alarm. All units cleared in just over an hour.
  • December 16 at 6:55pm: the engine and ambulance was dispatched to Route 247 for a Carbon monoxide type call. The 247 Command reported to Lackawanna County Comm Center that everyone was out of the residence with no one presenting any signs or symptoms of CO poisoning. The engine crew entered the residence and found high CO readings in two rooms in the lower level. The home was ventilated with positive pressure fans and the crew stood by until the furnace technician arrived and repaired the problem. The crews went back in service within two hours.
  • December 17 at 8:33pm: the ambulance was dispatched to Creamery Road for a medical emergency. The ambulance and Cottage medics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • December 19 at 10:33am: the ambulance received a call for assistance on Pleasant View Drive in the township. The crew transported a patient via basic life support to a city hospital. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • Later the same evening, the station was dispatched for a structure fire on Cosklo Road in Fell Township. The first arriving unit, Ladder 51 found smoke and flames showing and deployed an 1 ¾ handline to start extinguishing the fire. Engine 24 and Tanker 24 arrived establishing the water supply to the ladder. Chief 24 arrived on scene and established command and discussed the attack with the crews on scene. The fire was extinguished quickly and crews scanned the building with the thermal imaging camera looking for hotspots. Units worked for an hour and 15 minutes before returning to service.
  • December 20 at 8:20 am: the engine and ambulance were dispatched to assist Clifford on a motor vehicle accident with entrapment on SR 374 in Lennox. The engine accessed the patient and ambulance crew packaged the patient and transported them to the hospital. All units cleared within two hours.
  • Just after clearing the previous cal,l the engine and ambulance were requested by Susquehanna County to assist Clifford Fire and EMS on a motor vehicle accident at mile marker 206 northbound on the interstate. All units cleared the interstate within 45 minutes.
  • December 21 at 4:50pm: the station was requested to assist Clifford Fire on a structure fire on SR 2023 in Clifford Township. Crews worked approximately one hour and 45 minutes before returning to service.
  • December 25 at 5:05pm: the ambulance was dispatched to Sunset Avenue for a medical alert alarm. Greenfield unit 24-36 arrived on scene and found a false alarm and placed all units back in service quickly.
  • December 26 at 2:04pm: Susquehanna County transferred a call for assistance to Lackawanna County Communications center for a one car crash at Finch Hill Corners. Chief 24B arrived and found a minor crash with no injuries and placed all units back in service within minutes.
  • At 3:15pm: the ambulance was dispatched to assist Cottage EMS with a basic life support call on Falls Road in Fell Township. Just as 24-9 was being dispatched, 51 EMS established a crew and 24-9 was placed back in service within minutes.
  • December 28 at 10:01am: the ambulance was dispatched to Route 106 in the township for a medical emergency. The ambulance and Lackawanna Medics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 45 minutes.
  • December 30 at 1:02am: the Tanker was dispatched to assist Forest City Fire Department on a working structure fire on Hudson Street in Forest City. Crews worked for approximately three hours before returning to service.
November 30 to December 11, 2010
  • December 3 at 7:40am: the ambulance was dispatched to Route 247 in the township for a medical emergency. 24-9 and Cottage Medics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • Later the same afternoon, the ambulance was dispatched to Route 106 in the township for another medical emergency. 24-9 and Cottage medics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • December 8 at 9:37am: the ambulance was dispatched to Hickory Ridge Road for a medical emergency. Cottage medics assisted and a patient was transported to a local hospital. All units cleared in just over one hour.
  • December 11 just after 2am: the engine and ambulance were dispatched to assist Clifford Fire and EMS on a motor vehicle accident at mile marker 207 north in Susquehanna County. A patient was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation while the engine assisted with traffic and patient care. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • Later the same afternoon, the ambulance was dispatched to assist Clifford EMS with a medical emergency at the Mountain View Plaza in Clifford. A patient was transported to a local facility for treatment. The ambulance crew cleared the call within one hour and 15 minutes.
  • Just about 5pm: Greenfield opened its doors and invited our neighboring companies in for our annual Christmas Dinner. Hot and cold hors d'oeuvres started out the evening along with refreshments aplenty. About 6:30pm a wonderful dinner was served. Some items on the menu included sausage and peppers, rigatoni, meatballs, potatoes, salad, ham, chicken and roast beef. Desserts followed with cookies, pastries and cakes. Following dinner a presentation of service awards to members and a few “other” awards were handed out then a good time was had when the music was turned up and the dancing and mingling began. A wonderful night was had by all who attended. A special thanks goes out to the Finch Hill Restaurant and Quinn’s Market for the great food, Bob Chindemi for his mixology skills and Theresa Kilmer and her assistant for keeping the food lines flowing smoothly. Thanks a lot guys, you made it a GREAT NIGHT for EVERYONE!!!

November 19 - 27, 2010
  • November 19 at 11:21am: the ambulance was dispatched to assist Clifford EMS with a medical call on Park Lane in Clifford Township. The ambulance transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 30 minutes.
  • November 20: the engine was requested to assist Station 61 on a possible gas leak at the intersection of Tuttle Street and Morse Avenue. Command held all incoming units at their present location before returning everyone to service within 35 minutes.
  • November 23 at 10am: the ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Route 106 near the township line. A patient was transported to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour.
  • November 24 at 5:25am: the engine was requested by Wayne County to assist Waymart Fire as the RIT Team (Rapid Intervention Team) for a working structure fire at the Blue Stone motel on the Roosevelt Highway in Waymart. Units worked for approximately three hours before returning to service. See photos below.

  • November 24 at 9:19pm: the engine was dispatched to the intersection of Tuttle Street and Morse Avenue to assist Station 61 in Simpson for a smell of natural gas. The 61 command held all units at their current location while a investigation was made. Units operated for just under an hour before returning to service.
  • November 29 at 3pm: the ambulance was dispatched to Pierce Road for a medical emergency. 24-9 and Cottage Medics transported the patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 15 minutes.

October 24 - November 13, 2010

  • October 25 at 6:30pm: the ambulance was dispatched to Allesandra Drive in the township for a medical transport to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 15 minutes.
  • October 28 at noon: the ambulance was dispatched to assist Clifford EMS with a medical emergency on White Drive in Clifford Township. 18 and 24 personnel crewed together and transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour.
  • October 29 at 5:42pm: the ambulance and Cottage medics were dispatched to Sickler Pond Road in the township for a medical emergency. A patient was transported to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 15 minutes. Later the same evening the ambulance was once again requested for a medical emergency, this time on State Route 247. The ambulance transported a patient to a local hospital, and was back in service within one and a half hours.
  • October 30 at 8:12pm: the structure box was transmitted for a working fire on Hickory Ridge Road in the township. Chief 24 arrived on scene to find a shed on fire and the homeowner had knocked the fire down with a garden hose, averting a potentially bigger fire. Chief 24 held all units at their location having Engine 24 come in to assist with overhaul and obtaining the required paperwork. All units were back in service within 45 minutes.
  • October 31 at 7:00pm: the ambulance was dispatched to Hickory Ridge Road for a medical emergency. The ambulance and Cottage medics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 20 minutes.
  • November 2 at 8:00am: the ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Franklin Avenue. The ambulance and medics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared the call within one hour and 30 minutes.
  • November 8 at 7:30am: the ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Pierce Road. Cottage medics assisted and a patient was transported to a city hospital. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • November 9 at 10:47pm: the ambulance and PD were dispatched for a medical emergency on Route 247 near Finch Hill Corners. The ambulance and medics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared the call within one hour and 15 minutes.
  • November 10 at 12:15pm: the ambulance was dispatched to assist Clifford EMS with a medical emergency on Route 106 in Clifford. The ambulance and Cottage medics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • November 13 at 2:00pm: the station was dispatched for a brush fire on Route 106. Units had to chase the fire up hill while protecting the surrounding structures. Units worked for just under three hours before returning to service.

October 3 - 23, 2010

  • October 4 at 4:15: the ambulance and medics were dispatched to High point Street in the township for a medical emergency. A patient was transported to a local hospital. All units were back in service within one hour and 15 minutes.
  • October 8 at 11:49am: the engine and ambulance were dispatched to Bell Mountain Road for a crash with injuries. Chief 24 arrived and assumed the Bell Mountain Road Command reporting three vehicles and at least four patients. The command then requested additional BLS units and additional police units to assist with traffic control. 24-9 18-9 and 36-9 transported patients to the local trauma center while 36-8 transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared in just under two hours. The ambulance was placed on standby for the Lakeland Chiefs high School Football game. Fortunately all players stayed healthy and no one required transport. The ambulance went back in service in three hours. Later the same evening, the engine was requested to assist Clifford Fire and EMS with a vehicle obstructing the northbound lanes of interstate 81. Units cleared in one hour and 15 minutes.
  • October 9 at 6:47pm: the ambulance was requested by Susquehanna County to assist Clifford EMS on a medical emergency on TR Williams Road in Clifford. The ambulance transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 15 minutes.
  • October 10 at 6:00am: the ambulance was requested to standby for the Steamtown Marathom at Meredith St and Lackawanna Avenue in Carbondale Township. The crew provided refreshments and support for the runners. The crew went back in service in just over six and a half hours. Later at 4:21pm the ambulance and Cottage Medics were dispatched for a medical emergency assisting Clifford EMS in the village of Lennox. 24-9 and Cottage medics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units were back in service within two hours. Later the same afternoon, at 2:36pm the 24 station was requested by Susquehanna County to assist Station 18 on a fully involved barn fire on State Route 2065 in Lennox. Once the engine and tanker arrived on scene, Chief 24B requested the Forest City Engine and Waymart Tanker to relocate to Station 24 to cover the area since not only were Greenfield Units operating on the fire but also Scott Twp, Meredith and Mayfield were requested to assist Clifford Fire. Units operated for over six hours before returning to service. About 30 minutes later just as the engine was being parked in the garage, the brush fire assignment was transmitted for the area of Hickory Ridge Road and SR 247. The engine made quick work of the bursh fire and was quickly back in service in 40 minutes.
  • October 12 at 7:15am: the ambulance and Cottage medics were dispatched to Petrilak Lane for a medical emergency. The ambulance and medics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared in just over an hour.
  • October 13 at 9:30am: the Lackawanna County DECON task force was dispatched for some kind of chemical spill in Olyphant. Olyphant Fire along with numerous Lackawanna County Fire agencies, EMS agencies, the Lackawanna County Department of Emergency Services, Lackawanna County EMA and several police departments worked for about nine hours cleaning up the mess that floated a cloud of white smoke over the Mid Valley town. Later the same evening, at 6:15, the ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Pierce Road in the township. Cottage medics and 24-9 transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared in just over an hour.
  • October 15 at 9:20pm: the engine and ambulance were dispatched to assist Clifford fire and EMS with a motorcycle crash on Interstate 81 South near mile marker 207. Clifford units arrived on scene to find no crash and placed Greenfield Units back in service within 30 minutes.
  • October 16 at 12:13pm: the ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Pierce Road in the township. 24-9 and Cottage medics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared in just over two hours.
  • October 17 at 4:30pm: the engine tanker and ambulance were dispatched for a structure fire endangering two other structures and spreading quickly into a wooded area behind the original structure on Bell Mountain Road. Units extinguished the fires and mopped up all the hotspots in the wooded areas and cleared the scene and were placed back in service within two and a half hours.
  • October 18 at 9:42am: the ambulance was dispatched to SR 247 in the township for a medical emergency. The ambulance and Cottage medics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared in just over an hour.
  • October 19 at 2:22am: the ambulance was dispatched to stand by for a possible assist to the police department on Petrilak Road. 24-9 stood by while the police sorted things out and went back in service within one and a half hours. Approximately 12 hours later at 2:22pm the ambulance was dispatched to assist Clifford EMS with a medical emergency on Airport Road in Clifford Township. 24-9 and Cottage medics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • October 20 at 10:45am: the ambulance was dispatched to Old Maple Lane in the township for a medical emergency. 24-9 and Lackawanna Medics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one and a half hours.

September 19 - October 2, 2010

  • September 20 just before 1pm: the ambulance headed out to Danville to do a medical transport from Geisinger to CMC. The ambulance cleared the transport in just over six hours.
  • At 2:10pm: the engine was dispatched for a car fire on Interstate 81 north at mile marker 204. The engine arrived on scene to find a fully involved car fire. Units worked to extinguish the fire and control all the hazards all units cleared the scene and were ready for service within one hour and 30 minutes.
  • September 21 at 7:15 pm: the ambulance was dispatched to Finch Hill corners for a patient passed out in a vehicle. The call was closer to Walczak’s farm and the Police were notified. The ambulance was cancelled due to a patient refusal. All units cleared within one hour.
  • September 22 at 12:18 pm: the ambulance was dispatched to Sandy Banks Road for a medical emergency. 24-9 and Cottage Medics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • September 23 at 8:38 am: the ambulance and medics responded to Arnold Road for a medical emergency. A patient was transported to a city hospital. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • September 25 at 3:08 pm: the engine and tanker were dispatched for a brush fire on Bell Mountain Road. Chief 24B arrived on scene and assumed the Bell Mountain Road Command reporting a small brush fire that would be handled by units on scene, cancelling the Clifford Units from Susquehanna County. Greenfield Units operated for approximately one hour before returning to service.
  • Later the same evening, the ambulance was dispatched to Lake Avenue for a medical emergency. 24-9 transported a patient via basic life support to a city hospital. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • September 26 at 3:00 pm: the engine and ambulance were dispatched to Creamery Road for an accident with the vehicle possibly on fire. EMS units obtained two signed patient refusals and the engine crew doused the fire. All uits cleared within one hour and 15 minutes.
  • September 27 at 9:30 am: the ambulance was dispatched to assist Clifford EMS on a medical emergency at Whites trailer park. 24-9 transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour.
  • September 28 at 1:35 pm: the ambulance was dispatched to assist Clifford EMS on a medical emergency at the bank on Main Street in Clifford. 24 units went back in service within 30 minutes.

September 1 - 18, 2010

  • September 1 at 10:45 pm: the ambulance was dispatched to assist the PD on a welfare check on an elderly patient on Greenfield Road in the township. The ambulance arrived on scene to find the patient OK and not in need of medical treatment. The ambulance crew obtained a refusal of services document and went back in service within 40 minutes.
  • September 1 at 2:22: the engine and ambulance was dispatched for a minor motor vehicle accident at Finch Hill corners. 24-9 arrived and transported a patient to a local hospital for evaluation. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • September 1 at 10:46 pm: the ambulance was dispatched to Greenfield Road for a medical emergency. The ambulance crew arrived and found the patient to be OK and obtained a refusal signed by the patient. All units cleared within one hour.
  • September 2 at 9:42 am: the ambulance and Cottage medics were dispatched to Arnold Road for a medical emergency. A patient was transported to a local hospital and all units cleared within one hour and 15 minutes.
  • September 5 at 8:45 pm: the ambulance and Cottage medics were dispatched for a medical emergency on Route 247 in the township. 24-9 and the medics from Cottage transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • September 6 at 8:45 pm: the ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Route 247 in the township. The ambulance and Cottage paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 30 minutes.
  • Approximately 10:30 pm: 24-9, Cottage Medics and the PD were dispatched for a medical emergency on Route 247 in the township. A patient was transported to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 45 minutes.
  • September 7 at 2:52 pm: the engine was dispatched to assist Wayne County Station 63, Fleetville on an automatic fire alarm on Westcott Road in Benton Township. Station 63 units arrived on scene and found a false activation and placed all units back in service within ten minutes.
  • September 8 at 1:12 am: the engine and ambulance were dispatched for a rollover on Route 106 near the Finch Hill Vet Clinic. Units arrived on scene and found one patient out of the vehicle walking around. The ambulance and Cottage Medics transported one patient to the local trauma center. All units were back in service in two hours.
  • September 8 at 7:34 pm: the ambulance was dispatched to Country Club Road for a medical emergency. 24-9 transported a patient to a valley hospital. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • September 9 at 5:23 pm: Station 24 was requested by Susquehanna County to assist Clifford Fire and EMS on an automatic fire alarm on Old Bloxham Farm lane in Clifford Township. Chief 18 arrived on scene to find cooking set off the alarm and placed all units back in service within 30 minutes.
  • September 10 at 11:33 am: the engine and ambulance were dispatched for an investigation of black smoke in the area of the sewer plant on Route 247. Units arrived on scene to find the call was a controlled burn in Clifford Township. Chief 24 advised the county to notify Station 18 as the call was in their first due. Units cleared in 40 minutes.
  • September 11 at 12:47pm: the ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Route 247 in the township. The ambulance and Cottage medics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • At 3:20 pm: the Tanker did a standby at hurricane Hills for a demolition derby. The Tanker stood by for approximately six and a half hours before returning to service.
  • Approximately 3:15 pm: the ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Lakeview Avenue. 24-9 arrived on scene and obtained a patient refusal and went back in service within 45 minutes.
  • Approximately 8:05 pm: the engine was dispatched to assist Waymart Fire on a working structure fire on the Owego Turnpike in Canaan Township. Once the engine went enroute, Waymart Chief requested they stand by at Waymart’s Station. All units went back in service within one and a half hours.
  • September 12 at 7:15 pm: the ambulance was dispatched for a fall victim on Still Meadow Road. The ambulance arrived and found the patient conscious and alert and refusing treatment. The refusal was obtained and all units went back in service within one hour.
  • September 15 at 6:50 am: the engine and ambulance were dispatched to mile marker 203 northbound for a motor vehicle accident. Units arrived on scene and found two patients warranting transport. The 203 Command requested ambulance 36-9 to the scene and ambulance 59-9 to start toward the interstate. CLSS Ambulance and 24-9 transported the two patients to the local trauma center while 59-9 stood by while the ambulances were able to return to service. All units returned to service within one hour and 30 minutes.
  • The same evening 24-9 was dispatched to assist Station 36 on a crash at Heart Lake Road and Chapman Lake Road. Chief 36 arrived on the scene to find no accident. Scott PD found the accident to be at Rushbrook and Chapman Lake Roads. 24-9 stood by at staion while 36-9 transported a patient to a city hospital. All units went back in service within one and a half hours.
  • September 17 at 6:46 am: the ambulance was dispatched to Pierce Road for a medical emergency. 24-9 and Lackawanna Paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 45 minutes.
  • September 18 11:55 pm: the engine was dispatched to assist Waymart Fire with a fully involved structure fire on Carbondale Road in Waymart. Units worked for two hours and forty 45 before returning to service.

August 21 - 31, 2010

  • August 21 at 3:50 pm: 24-9 was dispatched to assist the police department on a possible medical emergency. The police department arrived and spoke to the patient who was in the process of being evaluated by LT24B. ALS units were cancelled by LT24B and 24-9 was placed back in service after obtaining a signed patient refusal. All units were back in service within 45 minutes.
  • August 22 at 12:34 pm: the engine was dispatched to White Road for a tree across the roadway. While the engine crew was handling that assignment, the pagers activated for a medical emergency on Decker Road. The EMS crew went enroute to handle the medical emergency. The engine crew cleaned up the Decker Road hazard while the EMS crew along with Cottage Medics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared both calls within one hour and 45 minutes.
  • August 25 at 12:30pm: the ambulance was dispatched to assist Clifford EMS with a medical emergency on Route 247 in Clifford Township. Greenfield units responded to the scene to assist Clifford and 24-9 was placed back in service within 45 minutes.
  • August 26 at 8 pm: 24-9 and Lackawanna Ambulance Medics were dispatched for a medical emergency on Route 247 in the township. 24-9 and Lackawanna Medics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units were back in service within one hour and 15 minutes.
  • August 27 at 5:50 pm: 24-9 was on stand by for the opening night of football at Lakeland High School for the start of the Chiefs football season. The ambulance stood by at the high school for approximately three hours.
  • August 26 at 11:33 pm: 24-9 was dispatched to assist 24PD with a medical emergency at Finch Hill Corners. The ambulance transported two patients to a local hospital. All units were back in service within one hour and 15 minutes.
  • August 28 at 2:16 pm: 24-9 was dispatched to assist Susquehanna County Clifford EMS with a medical emergency at the Lift Inn on Route 374 in Clifford. Lt24A responded to Clifford Station to ride on 18-9 to complete the call. All units were back in service within one hour and 15 minutes.
  • August 29 at 9:17am: 24-9 was dispatched along with Cottage Medics for a medical emergency on Bell Mountain Road in the township. Units arrived on scene and made contact with the patient who refused medical treatment and transport placing all units back in service within 40 minutes.
  • August 30 at 8:20 pm: Station 24, Station 36 and Station 60 units were dispatched for a report of black smoke billowing in the area of the cell towers. Chief 24B arrived on scene with Chief 36 and found it to be a controlled burn and Chief 24 returned all units to service within 45 minutes.
  • August 31 at 11:26 am: 24-9 was dispatched to Route 247 in the township for a medical emergency. Units arrived on scene and found the patient only needed a lift assist to get up. All units cleared within 30 minutes.

August 15 - 19, 2010

  • August 16 at 2:05 pm: the engine was dispatched for a pumping detail on Franklin Avenue in the township. The homeowner reported approximately five inches of water in the basement. The engine handled the assignment and went back in service in approximately one hour.
  • August 16 at 7pm: the engine was requested to assist the city of Carbondale Fire Department on an automatic fire alarm on Laurel Avenue in the city. The engine and crew responded to the city and were placed on stand by while Area 51 crews investigated the alarm. All units went back in service within 45 minutes.
  • August 17 at 10:01am: the ambulance was dispatched to the Finch Hill Vet Clinic for a medical emergency. The ambulance crew arrived on scene, evaluated the patient and obtained a signed refusal of treatment and transport from the patient. All units went back in service within 30 minutes.
  • August 19 at 10:44 am: 24-9 and Cottage Medics were dispatched to assist Clifford EMS with a medical emergency on State Route 2012. 24-9 and Cottage medics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 30 minutes.
  • August 19 at 4:47pm: the ambulance responded to Pierce Road for a medical emergency. 24-9 and Cottage Medics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 30 minutes.

August 7 - 14, 2010

  • August 7 at 4:42 pm: 24-9 was dispatched for a fall victim on Sickler Pond Road. The ambulance transported a patient to a local hospital. All units were back in service within one hour.
  • August 9 at 3:36 pm: the engine and ambulance were dispatched to assist Clifford Fire on a reported car fire between mile marker 207 and 208 northbound on the interstate. Clifford units arrived and placed Greenfield units back in service within 30 minutes.
  • Early the same evening about 6:34 pm: Engine 24 was dispatched to assist Wyoming County Station 63 Fleetville Fire on a possible structure fire on Wescott Road in Fleetville. The engine was responding as the RIT team when cancelled by 63 Command. All units were back in service within 30 minutes.
  • August 10 at 6:20 pm: 24-9 and Cottage Medics were dispatched to Route 247 in the township for a medical emergency. The ambulance and medics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units were back in service within one hour.
  • August 10 approximately midnight: 24-9 and Cottage Medics were dispatched to assist Susquehanna County Clifford EMS on a medical emergency on State Route 374 in Clifford Township. 24-9 and Cottage transported a patient to a city hospital. All units were back in service within one and a half hours.
  • August 11 at 4:05 pm: 24-9 was dispatched for a medical emergency at the rest stop on the interstate at mile marker 203 northbound. 24-9 and Community Life Support (CLS) medics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared in just over an hour.
  • August 12 at 3:45 am: the engine and ambulance were dispatched to assist Susquehanna County Clifford Fire on a tractor trailer rollover at mile marker 206 North. Units arrived on scene and found the only hazard was the trailer spilled with its load of sweet potatoes all over the roadway. Greenfield units assisted with traffic control and cleanup before returning to service approximately three hours later.
  • August 13 just before 1am: the engine and ambulance were dispatched for a motor vehicle accident on Route 106. 24-9 made contact with the patient and transported to a local hospital. All units cleared the scene in approximately one hour.
  • August 14 at noon: the engine and Police Department stood by at Finch Hill Corners to control traffic for the 1st annual Scott Twp Ambulance Fund motorcycle Ride which rolled through. All units were back in service within 30 minutes.

July 4 - 25, 2010

  • July 4 at 2:45pm: Tanker 24 was requested to stand by at hurricane Hills for their annual demolition derby. Crews stood by for approximately four and a half hours before returning to service.
  • Approximately 6pm: Greenfield units were dispatched for a fully involved passenger car fire on Bell Mountain Road near the intersection of Sickler Pond Road. Arriving units made a quick knock of the fire and all units were back in service within one hour.
  • Finishing off the night crews stood by at Newton Lake for their annual fireworks display. Greenfield and Clifford Units stood by for one and a half hours before returning to service.
  • July 5 at 9:20 pm: 24-9 was dispatched to assist 24 PD on a transport. 24-9 transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour.
  • July 8 at 4:43 pm: Greenfield was dispatched for a tree on wires at the intersection of Crystal Lake Road and Wallace Road. Greenfield Units assisted Fell/Simpson Fire dept’s on the call. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • Approximately 5:30 pm: the ambulance was dispatched to Creamery Road to assist Clifford EMS for a medical emergency. 18-9 crewed and responded to the call. All Greenfield units cleared within 20 minutes.
  • Approximately 8:30 pm: Engine 24 and Ambulance 24-9 responded to assist Clifford Fire and EMS on a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 81 between mile markers 206 and 207. Clifford personnel arrived on scene and cancelled the 24 units’ enroute. The units cleared within 20 minutes.
  • July 10 at 5 am: 24-9 was dispatched for a 911 hang-up call on route 247 in the township. While 24-9 was crewing, the PD arrived on scene and advised that the patient refused treatment and just required a lift assist. All units were placed back in service within 30 minutes.
  • Later that morning 24-9 was dispatched for a medical emergency on Creamery Road. 24-9 transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour.
  • During the afternoon, Engine 24 and 24-9 were dispatched for a motor vehicle rollover at Finch Hill Corners. Chief 24C arrived on scene and confirmed one vehicle on its roof with all occupants out of the vehicle, all possible refusals. The Engine controlled the hazards and the ambulance obtained five patient refusals. Crews stayed on scene until the wrecker arrived and righted the vehicle. All units cleared within one hour.
  • July 13 approximately 7pm: Tanker 24 responded to Forest City for a drill at the Forest City Nursing Home. The Tanker cleared within one and a half hours.
  • July 15 at 5:30 am: the ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Willow Avenue. Crews along with Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour.
  • Approximately 6 pm: 24-9 was dispatched for a medical emergency to Lake Boulevard. 24-9 and Cottage paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. Units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • Just arriving back in the coverage area from the previous call, 24-9 was dispatched for another medical emergency on Sickler Pond Rd. 24-9 and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • July 19 at 6:24 pm: Engine 24 was requested by Wayne County to assist Waymart Fire on a possible structure fire on Honesdale Road in Waymart. The Engine was requested to respond as the RIT Team. While units were enroute, Wayne County cancelled the response. All units were back ready for service within 30 minutes.
  • July 22 at 4:06 pm: the station responded to Route 106 for a possible structure fire. Upon arrival, Chief 24 advised Comm Center of no smoke or fire showing and placed all units except 24 and 18 crews back in service. A check of the building found no fire and all remaining units were placed in service within 30 minutes.
  • July 23: Engine 24 and 24-9 stood by at the Clifford Fire Company’s annual fireworks display. Units stood by for approximately two and a half hours while enjoying the awesome display of fireworks.
  • July 24 at 2:45: 24-9 was dispatched for a medical emergency on Country Club Road. 24-9 and Cottage 1 transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 20 minutes.
  • July 24 at 11:30 pm: 24-9 and Cottage Paramedics were dispatched to Franklin Avenue for a medical emergency. 24-9 and Cottage transported a patient to a local hospital. All unts cleared within one hour.
  • July 25 at 8:35 am: 24-9 was dispatched for a medical emergency on Decker road in the township. 24-9 and Cottage 1 transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 30 minutes.

June 1 - 30, 2010

  • June 3 approx. 2am: Greenfield was requested to assist Carbondale Fire on a possible structure fire on Enterprise Drive. Units arrived and found heavy fire venting from the roof of the structure and requested additional units to the scene. Units worked approximately four hours before returning to service.
  • At 11:30am: the ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Willow Avenue in the township. The ambulance transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour.
  • June 4 at 7am: the engine and ambulance was dispatched to Finch Hill Corners for a motorcycle accident. 24-9 and Cottage Medics transported a patient to the local trauma center. All units cleared within one hour and 30 minutes.
  • June 6 at 10:50am: the ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency in the northbound rest area. 24-9 and CLS Medics arrived and found the patient left the scene in a private vehicle. All units were back in service within 40 minutes.
  • June 7 approx. 4am: the ambulance was dispatched to Lee Road for a medical emergency. The ambulance transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour.
  • At 7:30 am: the ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Creamery Road in the township. 24-9 transported a patient to a city hospital. All units were cleared within one and a half hours.
  • June 8 at 12:30pm: the ambulance was dispatched to Sandy Banks Road for a medical emergency. 24-9 and Cottage Medics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared the call within one hour and 40 minutes.
  • Just after parking the ambulance, another medical emergency was dispatched at approximately 2:21pm to Lee Road. 24-9 and Cottage Medics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units were back in service within one hour.
  • June 10 at 10:24am: On Route 247 in the township units called for a medical emergency. 24-9 and Cottage Medics transported patient to a city hospital. All units were back in service within one hour and 20 minutes.
  • June 10 at 8:40pm: Greenfield Ambulance was dispatched to Lee Road for a medical emergency. 24-9 transported a patient to a local hospital. All units were back in service within one hour.
  • June 11 at 11:22am: Greenfield Ambulance and Cottage Medics were dispatched for a medical emergency on Petrilak Road in the township. 24-9 and Cottage Medics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units were placed back in service within one and a half hours.
  • June 11 at 2:24pm: Greenfield Ambulance was dispatched to assist Clifford EMS with a medical call on Third Avenue in Clifford. 24-9 transported a patient to a city hospital. All units were back in service within one and a half hours.
  • June 12 at 5:25pm: Greenfield units were dispatched to the area of Heart Lake Road and Matechak Road for a car fire. Incoming units were advised of a fully involved car fire. Greenfield units were on scene suppressing the fire when it was concluded that the fire was in fact in Scott Twp, Scott Twp units were notified. All units were cleared from the scene within one hour.
  • June 13 at 7:43pm: the engine was requested to Pierce Road for a tree blocking the roadway. Chief 24B arrived on scene to find a small branch in the roadway which was removed and all units were placed back in service within 20 minutes.
  • June 14 at 10:30am: the engine and ambulance was dispatched to Sickler Pond Road for an ATV accident. 24-9 and Cottage Medics transported a patient to the local trauma center. All units cleared the scene within two hours.
  • June 15 approx. 2am: Station 24 was requested to assist Clifford Fire on a possible structure fire on Airport Road in Clifford. First arriving units from Clifford reported a false alarm and placed all Greenfield units back in service within 50 minutes.
  • Approx. 9pm: the ambulance was dispatched to Hickory Ridge Road for a medical emergency. The ambulance arrived and obtained a patient refusal. All units were back in service within 20 minutes.
  • June 17 at 4:45pm: the ambulance was dispatched to assist Clifford EMS on Birchtown Road for a medical emergency. 24-9 and Cottage medics transported a patient to the local trauma center. All units were bavk in service within one hour and 40 minutes.
  • June 18 at 4:24pm: the ambulance was dispatched to mile marker 203 South for a medical emergency. The ambulance checked the interstate and found no patient and was placed back in service within 30 minutes.
  • June 19 at 10:21am: the ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Lakeview Avenue in the township. 24-9 and Cottage Medics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour.
  • June 22 approx. 9am: the ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Hickory Ridge Road. The ambulance transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour.
  • At 5:45pm: the engine and ambulance were dispatched to Interstate 81 South near mile marker 203 for an accident with possible injuries. Chief 24 arrived on scene and advised the county of a one vehicle rollover with four patients self extricated, and requested additional BLS units. Rescue 18 from Susquehanna County, Rescue 36 and 36-8 and CLSS assisted with obtaining the refusals. All units cleared the interstate within one hour.
  • June 24 at 4:10 pm: the box alarm assignment was transmitted for a tree down on wires on Decker Road in the township. First arriving units supplied the county communications center with the next nearest utility pole number for a reference for PPL Utilities. Units cleared within 45 minutes.
  • Approx. 5pm: the engine and ambulance were dispatched to Washington Street in the township for a tree down on wires. Chief 24B arrived on scene and notified Comm Center with a pole number for PPL to take care of the job. Units cleared the scene within 30 minutes.
  • June 26 at 11pm: the engine and ambulance were requested by Susquehanna County to assist Clifford fire for a possible Structure fire on Route 374 in Lennox Twp. First arriving Clifford units found no fire and placed all units back in service within 20 minutes.
  • June 28 approx. 11pm: the engine and ambulance were dispatched to assist Clifford for a medical emergency on Interstate 81 South near the rest stop. The engine arrived and assisted with patient packaging and the ambulance stood by. All units cleared the interstate within one hour and 15 minutes.
  • June 29 at 3:40pm: the ambulance was dispatched to Route 247 for a medical emergency. Community Life Support ALS assisted and a patient was transported to a local hospital. Units were back in service within one hour.

May 17 - 30, 2010
  • May 17 at 2:05 am: 24-9 was dispatched to Pierce Road for a medical emergency. Clifford EMS was requested for an assist, transporting a patient to a city hospital. Units cleared within one hour and 30 minutes.
  • May 18 at 4:50 pm: 24 EMS was dispatched to Poor Farm Road for a medical emergency. The ambulance and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 15 minutes.
  • May 20 at 10:16 am: Greenfield Ambulance was dispatched to Lee Road for a medical emergency. The ambulance transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 15 minutes.
  • At 3:48 pm that afternoon the engine and ambulance were dispatched to Pierce Road for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. The ambulance transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 40 minutes.
  • May 21 at 6:43 am: Greenfield Ambulance and Cottage Paramedics were dispatched to Sickler Pond Road for a medical emergency. The Ambulance and Paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 30 minutes.
  • Approximately 10:35 am, May 22, the engine was requested by Wayne County to assist Waymart fire on a working structure fire on Robinson Road in Waymart. Units from Greenfield, Mayfield, Meredith, Fell Township and Jefferson Township assisted Waymart on scene for approximately four hours before returning to service.
  • At 9:13 pm the same evening the ambulance was requested by Susquehanna County to assist Clifford Rescue and EMS for a motorcycle crash at Routes 106 and 374 in Lennox. Greenfield Ambulance arrived and loaded their patient and met Lackawanna Ambulance Paramedics enroute to the trauma center. Units cleared within one hour and 45 minutes.
  • May 24 at just after 6 am Greenfield Ambulance was dispatched for a public assist on Arnold Road in the township. All units cleared the assist within one hour.
  • A little while later at 8:12 am Greenfield Ambulance was requested by Susquehanna County to assist Clifford ambulance for a medical emergency on Creamery Road in Clifford Township. 24-9 and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a hospital in Wayne County. All units were cleared from the emergency in two and a half hours.
  • May 28 at 4:48 am: the engine and ambulance were dispatched to mile marker 203.5 northbound for an overturned tractor trailer leaking fuel oil. Engine 24 controlled the traffic hazards and contained the fuel until DATOM arrived to clean the spill. 24-9 transported a patient to a city hospital. Units worked on scene approximately two and a half hours before clearing the interstate.
  • May 30 at 5:15 am: the ambulance was dispatched to Hickory Ridge Road for a medical emergency. Greenfield Ambulance and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 30 minutes.

May 1 - 22, 2010

  • May 8 started out with a violent storm ripping through Greenfield and several surrounding townships downing trees and wires throughout the county. Greenfield started out at the intersection of Bell Mountain and Wells Roads at 7:51 pm with a large tree blocking the entire roadway. Units cleared that tree and returned to service within 30 minutes.
  • 9:06 pm: the Engine was requested once again to respond for a large tree branch blocking the roadway on Sickler Pond Rd. per the 24 PD. The engine arrived and made short work of the tree branch with a chainsaw and went back in service within 20 minutes.
  • Just before 11 pm: volunteers were dispatched again for another tree down on Hickory Ridge Road near Telep Road. The tree was removed from the roadway and the volunteers returned to service for the remainder of the night.
  • May 10 at 5:37 am: the engine was requested by Wayne County to assist Waymart Fire on a working structure fire near the intersection of North Baker Road and Eastern Turnpike Road. Units assisting Waymart included Engine 24, rescue 59, Tanker 29, Rescue 51, Engine 61-3 and 4, Brush 61 and Squad 62. All units worked for approximately five and a half hours before returning to service.
  • May 11 at 5:31 pm: Engine 24 was dispatched to assist Area 61, Fell Twp on a possible propane gas leak. Chief 61 arrived on scene, established the Dundaff St Command and found a passenger car into a gas meter. No gas leak was found and all units were placed back in service within 30 minutes.
  • May 11 at 10:32 pm: Engine 24 was requested for the second alarm assignment in Carbondale for a fully involved structure fire on River Street in Carbondale. First arriving units requested the alarm upgrade due to the fact that two structures were on fire. Units from Carbondale, Greenfield, Jermyn, Mayfield and Cottage EMS worked for approximately three hours before returning to service.
  • May 15 at just before 6 pm: 24-9 was dispatched to Telep road for a medical emergency. Greenfield EMS and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units were back in service within 90 minutes,
  • May 16 just before 4 pm: the Ambulance was dispatched to Krestin Lane for a medical emergency. 24 EMS and Cottage paramedics transported a patient to a local hospital. Units cleared within one hour.
  • Later that evening, around 11:20 pm the Ambulance was dispatched for another medical emergency this time to the area of Finch Hill Corners. 24-9 and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a local hospital. Units cleared within one hour.
  • May 18 at 4:52 pm: 24 EMS was dispatched to Poor Farm Road for a medical emergency. 24-9 and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a local hospital. Units cleared within one hour.
  • May 21 at 6:40 am: 24-9 was dispatched to Sickler Pond Road for a medical emergency. 24-9 and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour.
  • May 22 just about 10:00 am: Engine 24 was dispatched to assist Wayne County Waymart Fire for a structure fire on Robinson Road. Units worked for approximately five hours before returning to service.
  • That same afternoon 24-9 was requested to stand by at Hurricane Hills while Cottage transported a patient to a local hospital. The ambulance cleared within one hour.
  • About 9:10 the same evening, 24-9 was requested to assist Clifford fire and EMS with a motor vehicle accident involving several patients in Royal. 24-9 and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to the local trauma center. Units cleared within one hour and 30 minutes.

Weeks of April 11 - 24, 2010

  • April 11 just before 10:00 pm: Station 24 crews traveled to Susquehanna County to assist Clifford, Harford and several other companies for a fully involved three alarm structure fire at Bingham’s Restaurant on Route 92 in Lennox. When crews arrived they were met with heavy fire venting through the roof and windows of the structure. The building also housed a gun shop and real estate office. Crews operated with extreme caution due to bullets from the gun shop exploding from the extreme heat. Crews took a defensive stand and poured water on the structure for approximately six hours before clearing the scene.
  • April 12 at 6:23 am: Ambulance 24-9 was dispatched to assist Clifford EMS for a medical emergency on Wells Road in Clifford Township. Clifford EMS crewed and Ambulance 24-9 cleared within 30 minutes.
  • At approximately 10:38 am: during crew clean up from Bingham’s, the structure fire box was activated for Mountain Road in Gibson Township. Upon arrival, crews found a residential dwelling and a trailer on fire. Several vehicles and a section of wooded area were also burning. Crews operated for several hours before returning to service. Station 24 crews returned to service in approximately four and a half hours.
  • At 2:1 pm: just as crews were parking the apparatus in their stations, the structure box was transmitted for Creamery Road in Clifford Township. Clifford crews arrived on scene and found a possible electrical problem in a refrigerator. Crews cleared the residence of smoke and went back in service within 30 minutes.
  • April 13 just after 4:30 am: Susquehanna County requested Engine 24 and Ambulance 24 to assist Clifford for a motor vehicle accident -- vehicle into a bridge on Interstate 81. Clifford units arrived on scene, preformed a search of the area but found no patient. Engine and Ambulance 24 were cleared from the scene within 60 minutes.
  • April 14 just before 11 am: Greenfield Units were dispatched for a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 81 near mile marker 204 Northbound. Units operated on scene for approximately three hours before returning to service.
  • April 14 just before 6:30 pm: later in the evening Ambulance 24-9 was dispatched to Route 247 for a medical emergency. Crews arrived on scene and the patient had already left in a personal vehicle. All units cleared within 40 minutes.
  • April 15 at 1:20 pm: Greenfield volunteers were dispatched for a medical emergency on Crestmont Avenue in the township. 24-9 and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • April 23 at 6:43 am: Greenfield ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Pleasant View Drive in the township. 24-9 and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within 45 minutes.
  • April 23 approximately 7:43 am: 24-9 and Cottage Paramedics were dispatched to another medical emergency on Wagner Boulevard. The Ambulance along with Cottage Medics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 15 minutes.
  • April 23 approximately 1 pm: Greenfield volunteers assisted Clifford on a motorcycle accident on Route 106 near their station. 24-9 along with Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to the local trauma center. All units cleared within one hour and 30 minutes.
  • April 26 at 1:18 pm: Greenfield Engine and Ambulance were dispatched to the intersection of Bell Mountain Road and Wells Road for power lines and a transformer on fire. Chief 24 arrived on scene along with PPL units, PPL units took control of the scene and all Greenfield units were placed back in service within 30 minutes.
  • April 27 at 5:44 pm: Ambulance 24-9 was dispatched for a medical emergency on Creamery Road in the township. The ambulance transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour.
  • April 29 at 12:48 am: Greenfield was dispatched for a possible medical emergency on Allesandra Drive in the township. The ambulance arrived on scene and found no emergency; all units were placed back in service within 20 minutes.
  • April 29 at 5:30 am: the ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Bell Mtn Road in the township. The ambulance along with Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units were back in service within one and a half hours.
  • April 29: The ambulance was dispatched a third time this morning for an assist to Clifford EMS. 24-9 transported a patient to a local hospital for treatment. All units were back in service within one hour.
  • April 29: Volunteers were on the job once again responding to a crash on Rt 247 near the intersection of Hickory Ridge Road. Chief 24 marked on scene advising Communications that the vehicle sheared a utility pole. The Engine and Ambulance arrived on scene along with Rescue 18 out of Susquehanna County and went to work stabilizing the vehicle and treating the patient. As units were operating on the crash, the Lackawanna County Communications Center notified Command of a possible structure fire at the intersection of Willard Avenue and Ruthland Avenue. The 247 Command sent some units to the second call. Once on scene, the upgraded structure fire box was transmitted for a working fire bringing units from Carbondale, Scott twp, Forest City, Mayfield, Uniondale and Justus to assist. Units operated on scene for approximately three hours before clearing both calls.

Weeks of March 25 - April 10, 2010

  • March 25 at 6:15 pm: Engine 24 was requested by Wayne County to assist Waymart fire for a possible structure fire on the Roosevelt Highway in Waymart. Waymart units arrived on scene and found a false activation and placed the Engine back in service within 10 minutes.
  • March 26 at 8:38 am: 24 EMS was requested to assist Scott EMS with a medical emergency in Scott Township. Ambulance 36-9 formed a crew and 24-9 was placed back in service within 15 minutes.
  • March 28 at 3:45 am: the Ambulance was dispatched to a medical emergency on Wells Road in the Township. 24-9 and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 15 minutes.
  • March 29 at 9:24 am: the Ambulance responded to a medical emergency on Sickler Pond Road in the Township. 24-9 and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 15 minutes.
  • April 2 at 3:32 pm: Ambulance 24-9 was dispatched to Shust Road in the Township for a medical emergency. 24-9 and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units were back in service within one hour.
  • April 3 at 11:20 pm: the Engine and Ambulance were dispatched to a two-car crash reported by ONSTAR to be on Petrilak Road in the Township. Chief 24 checked Petrilak Road and found no crash. Other incoming units investigated and found the remnants of what appeared to be a vehicle striking a utility pole on Route 247 near Petrilak Road. The Engine deployed the light tower to investigate and fire personnel found skid marks, some vehicle parts and splinters from the utility pole on the ground near by but no vehicle was found. All the hazards were removed from the road and all units were placed back in service within 30 minutes.
  • April 5 at 5:13 pm: Greenfield Engine, Tanker and Ambulance were requested by Susquehanna County to assist Clifford for a possible structure fire at Weidas Trailer Park. Chief 24A arrived on scene and updated incoming units to a working structure fire with smoke blowing out the windows and eaves of the trailer. Clifford, Greenfield and Nicholson units worked together to make a quick knock of the fire. Greenfield units were placed back in service within one hour and 30 minutes.
  • April 6 at 5:40 am: Ambulance 24-9 was dispatched to a medical emergency on Route 106 in the Township. Ambulance 24 and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units were placed back in service within one hour.
  • April 8 at 8:46 pm: The Engine was requested by Susquehanna County to assist Clifford for wires down and arching on Crystal Lake Blvd in Clifford Township. Engine 24 arrived to find several wires in a tree and on the ground. The Engine controlled the hazards while awaiting the arrival of the electric company. Crews cleared within one hour.
  • April 9 at 4:20 pm: Ambulance 24-9 responded to the rest stop on Interstate 81 for a medical emergency. Units arrived on scene and obtained a patient refusal and all units cleared within 45 minutes.
  • April 10 at 11:06 pm: Ambulance 24-9 responded to a medical emergency on Wells Road in the Township. 24-9 and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • Later the same evening, 24-9 personnel responded to Decker Road in the Township for a medical emergency. 24-9 and Cottage Medics transported a patient to a local hospital. Units cleared within 90 minutes.

Week of March 7 - 21, 2010

  • March 12 at 3:51 pm: Greenfield Ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Lake Avenue in the township. Greenfield Ambulance and Cottage paramedics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within 90 minutes.
  • March 15 at 9:29 am: 24-9 responded to Country Club Road for a medical emergency. 24-9 transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour.
  • March 15 at 4:16 pm: 24-9 responded to Pierce Road for a medical emergency. 24-9 and Cottage paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within 90 minutes.
  • March 16 at 10:03 pm: 24-9 was dispatched for a medical emergency on Third Street in the township. 24-9 and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour.
  • March 17 at 2:55 pm: 24-9 responded to assist Clifford EMS with a medical emergency on State Route 2010 in Clifford Township. 24-9 transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour.
  • March 19 at 3:22 pm: Responded to a medical emergency on State Route 106 in the township. 24-9 and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within 90 minutes.
  • March 20 at 9:09 pm: 24-9 went on stand-by for a possible assist to the police on Greenfield Road. Greenfield PD arrived and cancelled EMS. All units cleared within 30 minutes.
  • At 11:45 pm: 24-9 responded to Hickory Ridge Road for a medical emergency. Lt 24A arrived on scene and obtained a patient refusal. All units cleared within 30 minutes.
  • March 21 at 6:49 pm: Greenfield units were requested by Susquehanna County to assist Clifford Fire for a structure fire on Snyder Park Road in Lennoxville. Clifford units arrived and made a quick douse of the fire, all Greenfield units were cleared within one hour.

Week of February 14 - 27, 2010

  • Feb 21 at 11:19 am: Greenfield Ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Arnold Road in the township. Greenfield Ambulance and Cottage Paramedics transported a female patient to a local hospital. All units were back in service within one hour.
  • Feb 17 at 5:26 pm: Greenfield Ambulance was dispatched to Healey Hill Road in the township for a medical emergency. Greenfield Ambulance transported a patient to a city hospital. All units were back in service within one and a half hours.
  • Feb 23 at 11:40 am: Greenfield Ambulance was dispatched to Route 247 in the township for a medical emergency. Greenfield Ambulance and Cottage Paramedics transported a male patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour.
  • Feb 23 at 7:30 pm: Greenfield units were dispatched for a possible structure fire on Old Maple Lane in the township. Chief 24B arrived on scene and found a controlled burn. All units were back in service within 30 minutes.
  • Feb 26 at 11:43 am:Greenfield Ambulance went on stand-by for a possible assist to Scott for a one car rollover on the interstate with multiple patients. Units stood by for approximately one hour and were placed back in service by Command 36.
  • Feb 26 at 12:26 pm: Greenfield Ambulance was placed on stand-by once again for a possible assist to Harford EMS. Harford handled the call and Greenfield Ambulance was placed back in service within one hour.
  • Feb 26 at 1043 pm: Greenfield Ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Healey Hill Road in the township. Greenfield Ambulance and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units were ready for service within one hour and 30 minutes.

Week of January 31 - February 13, 2010

  • Jan 31 at 2:19 am: Greenfield units were dispatched to a report of wires down on Route 247 in the township. Chief 24 arrived on scene and secured the scene until the arrival of the utility company. All units were back in service within one hour.
  • 11:40 pm: Greenfield Ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Ridge Road in the township. The ambulance along with Cottage paramedics transported a male patient to a city hospital. All units were back in service within one and a half hours.
  • Feb 2 at 5:16 pm: the ambulance was dispatched for a fall victim on Greenfield Road. Greenfield Ambulance transported a female patient to a local hospital. All units were back in service within one hour.
  • 9:30 pm: Greenfield units were dispatched to a single vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 247 and Arnold Road. While enroute to the crash, the Lackawanna County Communications Center updated the location of the crash to an address on Arnold Road. Units rerouted and found one vehicle into a tree with no patient found. Greenfield Police arrived and took control of the scene and all units were placed back in service within 45 minutes.
  • Feb 3 at 12:23 pm: Greenfield Ambulance was requested by Susquehanna County to assist Clifford EMS with a medical emergency on State Route 2021 in Lennox Township. Greenfield Ambulance and Cottage paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 30 minutes.
  • 6:34 pm: Greenfield Ambulance was dispatched for a medical emergency on Telep Road. Clifford Ambulance and Cottage Paramedics assisted Greenfield Ambulance. A patient was transported to a city hospital. All units were placed back in service within one hour.
  • Feb 5 at 11:30 am: 24-9 was dispatched to assist 18-9. 24-9 had an EMT and 18-9 had a driver. We combined crews and responded 18-9. Lt 24-B put 24-9 back in service. 24-9 was dispatched to assist 18-9 for a medical emergency. Both crews combined and transported a patient to a city hospital. All units were placed back in service within one hour and 30 minutes.
  • Feb 7 at 12:24 pm: Superbowl Sunday started with a bang for Greenfield Firefighters with a two-car crash at Finch Hill Corners. Lieutenant 24 A arrived on scene and found all occupants out of both vehicles with minor injuries with one vehicle on its roof. Engine 24 arrived on scene and controlled the hazards while Lieutenant 24 A and 24 B triaged patients. Rescue 18 assisted with hazards and traffic control while 24-9, 18-9 and 36-9 transported all patients to a local hospital, all having minor injuries. Leo's Towing arrived, righted the vehicle and the intersection was cleared. All units were placed back in service within 45 minutes (See photos below).
  • Feb 8 at 3:44 am: Greenfield ambulance and Cottage paramedics were dispatched for a medical emergency on Decker Road. Greenfield ambulance and Cottage paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units were placed back in service within one hour and 30 minutes.
  • Feb 9 at 11:15 am: Greenfield Ambulance was dispatched to Petrilak Lane for a medical emergency. The ambulance and Cottage paramedics transported a female to a city hospital. All units were placed back in service within one hour and 30 minutes.
  • Feb 10 at 8:26 pm: was dispatched to Pleasant View Drive for a medical emergency. Greenfield Ambulance and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units were back in service within one hour.
  • Feb 11 at 8:08 pm: Greenfield Ambulance was dispatched to Petrilak Lane for a medical emergency. Greenfield Ambulance and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one and a half hours.

Week of January 17 - 30, 2010

  • Jan 17: at 6:28 pm Station 24 was dispatched to a residential fire alarm on Route 247 in the township. Chief 24 arrived on scene and found a false activation and placed all units back in service. All units cleared within 30 minutes.
  • Jan 17: 8:06 pm Engine and Ambulance 24 were requested by Susquehanna County to assist Clifford Fire and EMS with two multiple vehicle crashes on the Interstate, one at mile marker 205 SOUTH and another on the Twin Bridges NORTH. Engine 24 controlled traffic going NORTH while 24-9 obtained three patient refusals. Crews operated for one hour and 15 minutes.
  • Jan 19: at 12:08 pm Engine 24 was requested by Wayne County to assist Waymart Fire on a working structure fire. Engine 24 stood by as the RIT team while Waymart and several other companies worked on fire suppression. Crews went back in service within four hours.
  • Jan 21: at 8:24 pm Greenfield Ambulance was dispatched to Pierce Road for a medical emergency. The ambulance and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 15 minutes.
  • Jan 22: at 10:26 am The engine and ambulance were dispatched for a two car crash at Finch Hill Corners. Rescue 18 and 18-9 were requested from Susquehanna County and Scott ambulance and Cottage Paramedics from Lackawanna to assist. 24-9 and one medic from Cottage transported a patient to a local hospital while 36-9 and another medic from Cottage transported a second patient to the local trauma center. All units cleared within one and a half hours.
  • Jan 24: at 10:37 pm Engine 24 was requested to move up and stand by at Station 28, Justus while they and Station 36 Scott worked on a fully involved garage fire with multiple explosions. The engine just arrived at Station 28 when they were requested to setup a water supply at the intersection of Johnson Road and Route 632, while Engine 63 setup another water supply at the Scott Tech Park. A tanker shuttle ran continuously for the next five and a half hours shuttling more than 100,000 gallons of water to the fire. Just as crews were setting up the water supply, Station 4, who were enroute to assist at the structure fire, were sent to a one car crash into a tree on the other end of Johnson Road. Station 4 crews cleared up the crash and continued in to the fire. All units operated for approximately six and a half hours.
  • Jan 25: at 12:28 am Engine and Tanker 24 were requested to assist Station 36 with a chimney fire on Tompkinsville Road in Scott Township. Crews operated for approximately one and a half hours.
  • Jan 25: at 12:18 pm Engine and Ambulance 24 were dispatched for a one car rollover with entrapment near the intersection of Telep Road and Hickory Ridge Road in the township. Ambulance 24 and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 15 minutes.
  • Jan 30: just after midnight Engine and Ambulance 24 were dispatched for a one car accident on Route 247. The ambulance transported a patient to a local hospital. All units went back in service within one hour.
January 19, 2010: at approximately noon, Engine 24 was requested by Wayne County to assist Waymart Fire and EMS on a working structure fire on Tuthill Road. Crews arrived and found heavy fire from Side "B" of the structure endangering another structure a few feet away. Engine 24 arrived and stood fast as the RIT team. As the fire was brought under control, Engine 24 supplied foam to Rescue 75 for overhaul. Greenfield Crews were placed back in service within two and a half hours. Click here to view photos.

Week of January 1 - 16, 2010

  • Jan 1: at 5:57 pm Greenfield units were dispatched for a one car accident at Finch Hill Corners. Greenfield Ambulance obtained one patient refusal and went back in service within 20 minutes. While units operated on the crash, the structure box was transmitted to assist Clifford Fire on Airport Road. Clifford Units arrived on scene and placed Greenfield Engine back in service while requesting the Tanker to continue in to the scene. All units cleared both calls within one hour.
  • Jan 2: at 8:00 am Greenfield Ambulance was dispatched to Wagner Boulevard in the township for a medical emergency. Greenfield Ambulance and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within two and a half hours.
  • At 8:47 pm Greenfield Ambulance was dispatched to Wagner Boulevard for a medical emergency. Greenfield Ambulance and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour.
  • Jan 3: at 7:45 pm Greenfield Engine was requested by Carbondale Fire to stand by at Fire Headquarters while they worked on a structure fire on 7th Avenue in Carbondale. Greenfield Units were placed back in service within two hours.
  • Jan 4: at 1:34 pm Greenfield Ambulance was dispatched to assist Clifford EMS with a medical emergency at Endless mountain Medical Clinic in Clifford. Greenfield Ambulance and Cottage Paramedics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units went back in service within 45 minutes.
  • Jan 5: at 5:45 pm Greenfield Units were dispatched to Hickory Ridge Road for an ATV leaking gas in a garage. Greenfield Engine arrived on scene and removed the hazards from the garage. All units were placed back in service within 45 minutes.
  • Jan. 8: at 6:21 pm Greenfield Ambulance was dispatched to assist Clifford Ambulance with a fall victim on Route 247 in Clifford. Lieutenant 24A arrived and upgraded the call to ALS and requested Cottage Paramedics. Greenfield Ambulance and Cottage paramedics transported a patient to a local hospital. All units cleared within one hour.
  • Jan. 10: at 11:51 am Greenfield Ambulance was dispatched to Crestmont Ave for a medical emergency. Greenfield Ambulance and Cottage paramedics transported a patient to a city hospital. All units cleared within one hour and 30 minutes.
  • Jan 14: at 7:19 pm Greenfield Engine, Tanker and Ambulance was dispatched for an unknown type of fire at the intersection of Route 106 and Lee Road. Chief 24 arrived on scene and found a small rubbish fire in the area to be a controlled burn. All units were placed back in service within thirty minutes.
January, 12, 2010: Greenfield Volunteers held the annual CPR refresher course at the firehall. American Safety and Health Institute instructors Rich Whitelavich, Tom Drennan and John Kurilla instructed members, new cadets and a few guests the proper lifesaving techniques of Cardio Pulmonary Resusciation and how to use other lifesaving devices such as an Automated External Defibrilator, more commonly known as an AED. Students learned proper hand positioning, compression to breath ratios, proper pad placement for AED use and how and where to check for pulses.
